In plain words
You are young boys. You know this well. Suppose that before you are married there is a girl in the house next to yours. That girl may fall ill. A very dangerous condition may even arise. Even though everyone in the house is weeping, you take no notice of it. "They are all right next door weeping; it is a great disturbance to me," you grumble bitterly. But after some time that very girl may become your wife. After that girl has become your wife, if she has a slight stomach-ache, you dash off a leave letter to your office. Before this, when she was in grave danger and the whole house was weeping, you thought it a disturbance. Now, when she has a little stomach-ache, why write a leave letter to the office? This is the inner bond that has formed. It is a bond of the heart, in the mind. In the mind she is my wife. The moment the stamp "she is my wife" is set, the heart grows wide. Here negative and positive both become one.
In the same way, in business Drucker took things down the negative side. This negative business gradually kept declining. That Drucker went on to write another book. He is now about 83 years old. The book he wrote before was written in the light of the conditions of that time. Now he himself has recognised that a great change must come. Without the positive, the negative is of no use. What is positive? Śraddhā. Śraddhā in what? Śraddhā in earning money. No. No. Śraddhā in your work. It is only because śraddhā in work has withered today that factories are closing down. What is the reason the price of these goods has risen? Students must recognise this well. All the people in Japan have love for their country. They must have the faith that they should look first to the progress of their country. Very low pay. They do not care at all about their pay. Only because the pay is low is the price of the goods low too. What is it that stands out in these workers? The spirit of work. It is very strong in them. We must do the work well. That is greatness. Today in our Bhārata-deśa the spirit of work has withered. The work must be little, and the pay must be more! That is exactly why the price of goods has kept rising. Go anywhere, pick up a watch, pick up any toys: they are very cheap in Japan itself. Why? Because those workers' pay is low. Today, because the workers' pay has risen, the price of goods too has gone up.
