In plain words
The wonders of God, this secret of creation, no one at all can recognise rightly. These people can travel only as far as their own strength and ability reach. There are so many kinds of birds. But each kind can fly only up to its own height. No bird has the power to fly through the whole sky. In the same way, man goes up to a certain level, according to his capacity. From there he comes down. Then when will this full power come to us? If you understand the principle of the Ātma, all powers are contained in it. Now in the world there is one thing that torments every man alike. That is fear. There is simply no man in the world without fear. Even if he has nothing else, he has at least the fear that he will die. So all living beings live with this thing called fear. When will this fear go? Fear goes only when fearlessness is gained. When is fearlessness gained? Fearlessness is gained through Vairāgya. So when is Vairāgya gained? Vairāgya is gained only when faith in God grows. It is only by the faith that God is there that all fears are removed. It is because that faith is not so firm now that fear keeps hounding man like a ghost. Does man know what this fear is like? Just as his shadow follows him wherever he goes, this fear stays close beside him wherever he goes. Who has fear? Only the one who has a fault has fear. The one without a fault has no fear at all. What is that fault? Not having faith in God: that is the great fault. It is because that faith is lacking that all these fears keep hounding us. So in everything we must grow broad, broad, broad. We must make every effort to live in unity with one another, understanding one another.
It is only because all these powers in our body stay in mutual harmony that our life is happy and we are able to fulfil what we wish. Within, what kind of relation do these have with one another? I have told you many times. But I am reminding you once more. The eye saw a fruit on a tree. As soon as this eye saw it, the mind wanted that fruit. As soon as the mind wanted it, the legs walked up to the tree. On reaching the tree, the waist bent. As it bent, the hand took hold of a stone. The arm threw it. The fruit fell down. These fingers touched the fruit. They took it and gave it to the mouth. The teeth chewed it well. Beyond that they had no claim on it at all. They sent it on to the fire of digestion. What did that fire of digestion do? It digested it well and sent the essence to all the limbs.
