The comparison between the two is this: the head is a Polaroid picture. The heart is a negative. If there is a negative, we can take any number of copies. In this Polaroid only one picture comes. This is so narrow; this is so broad. That is why man belongs only to the heart, not to the head. From the heart it must go to the head. That is karma. What is done with the body. What is done in the heart is enquiry. This is enquiry of this kind. Discrimination knowledge. Then the Ātma is the witness. It is there always. It yields to nothing at all.
If you enquire once what the Ātma is: the eye is seeing. The eye is not what sees. It sees through the Ātma. Otherwise, a dead man too has eyes; does he see? There are ears there; he hears, does he? So it is only while this Ātma is there that people hear through the ears and he sees through the eyes. He speaks through the mouth. What gives the power to see is the Ātma. What gives the power to hear is the Ātma. It supplies all that. It itself stays as the witness. A small example. I am speaking here. But there are some speakers over there. The current did not come there. The current carried the words. The current is there wherever you look. From here to there you change it over yourself. You take it through wires. Look, they have laid wire all through here. There is a light only here, and a light there; in between there is no light. Since there is no light, is there no current? There is. It is there too. Cut it there and put in a bulb, and it lights up. In the same way the Ātma is everywhere. We must make the connection of our mind there. Then it shines. Let us take another example. They are laying wire. In the wire there is current. Inside the wire there is another wire. Inside is a copper wire. The wire outside is a plastic wire. Does that current come over this plastic, over the leather? It does not. It flows through the copper wire. So our body is a wire. Inside the copper wire flows the current called will power. If you connect the leather wire outside to a leather wire, no light comes. If you connect a copper wire to a copper wire, the light comes. So only when mind and mind, the two, meet does the current flow there. If only the outer wires meet, you sit next to one another; what is the use? When mind meets mind, however far apart they are, it stays one. When such a mind has so much power, you cannot call it a chemical and biological matter combination, can you?
