Passage 6

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

If he is one who has repented of these wrongs as wrongs, why does he step into these wrongs again on the second day? So once you have done wrong, knowingly or unknowingly, see that such wrongs do not come again. This alone is the true principle of real humanness. We must believe the truth that in every matter, in every word, in every act, the consciousness that is Divinity pervades everything. In what is called tat jalān, we must inquire well into the Prajñā that is in the three, this body, mind and life-breath. That is what they called Prajñānaṃ Brahma. That is constant integrated awareness. Such Prajñā is with us, beside us, at home in us, and still we cannot recognise it: there is no greater Ajñāna than this.

This is not something gained only through studies. Nor is it something we must learn from books. We must understand it through our own experiences in daily life.

However many kinds of learning you master, what is the fruit? The writing on your brow cannot be escaped. If wicked thoughts get into your head, the wits turn to stone and wither.

Always reviling others, always criticising others: this is not right for a man. It is merely the mark of a demon. A man with such qualities will never gain Śānti. You must change your own nature. Not to change yourself, not to change your home, and to try to change the world, is sheer madness. First grow in the faith that God is everywhere. A scientist looks at the sun and says, ‘This is only a ball of hydrogen.’ But the godly seeker of God: Ah! The sun is the one the world worships. He is God before our eyes; without the sun there is no creation. For all the seasons, for the routine of the day, for night and day, the sun alone is the root cause of it all. The devotee keeps worshipping the sun. See how great a difference there is between the scientist and the sannyāsī. If he thinks it is only a ball of hydrogen and ends there, how foolish he is! Every power comes forth from the sun alone. He looks on it as a kind of ball and slights it. They are cruel, without gratitude. Without the sun he himself would not be. Without the sun they could not carry out any of their observations and research at all.
