In plain words
This, the very form of spiritual Ānanda, is our culture. This saṃskṛti has come from Saṃskṛta. And Saṃskṛta was formed solely from saṃskāra. This saṃskāra itself is spirituality. It is through this spirituality that all cultures have come into being. What is in all of them is one: only one, only one. That is the One Being. The culture of every country too lies hidden in this spiritual path. However many kinds of sweets we make, wheat halwa, almond kheer, gulab jamun, jalebi, what is in all of them is the one sugar. Just as we can recognise that, so too the culture of any country has come forth from spirituality. To divide them into two, culture and spirituality, is not good. When there is spirituality alone, culture is within it. What is the body? Eye, nose, ear, leg, mouth, belly, head: all these joined together are this body. But no single limb by itself can be a body. So our body, made up of all its limbs, is the universe. This universe is the form of Viṣṇu. So everything is within us. To divide it is not good. We must not divide it at all, saying this is worldly and this is spiritual. The oneness of these two is the root cause of divine creation. Take a seed. In that seed there are two halves. Only when those two halves are together does it grow into a plant, into a tree. Split them apart into two halves, and there is no creation any more. Over these two halves there is a skin, a husk. This is called culture. Yet this cannot leave that, nor that leave this. So it is all the oneness of the two: the culture of Bhārata, the culture of foreigners, all cultures, are made of this oneness. Only because they lack such breadth of feeling has each one gone on dividing in this way: ours is one culture, ours is another. Mine is the Hindu religion. Mine is the Christian religion. Mine is the Islamic religion. Mine is the Buddhist religion. To divide in this way is narrowness, not breadth. Religion does not mean something separate. Religion means to realise. It is not a religion of mine and a religion of yours. All who have realised are of the one religion. So we must develop the right harmony to some extent.
