In plain words
Just the day before yesterday I told you what the progress of education is.
It does harm to the very one who did it good, it throws down the very one who fed it, it mocks the very ones who taught it, this is the progress in the education of today.
In today's learning, warped natures and twisted ways of this kind keep growing. Every man preaches morality and honesty. He only utters the words. But
morals and rules have stayed behind in the books, the whole heart has become a house of foul smell, all deeds have become selfish deeds: this is the progress in the education of today.
In the past it was not like this. Satyaṃ vada. We must speak only the truth. We must practise Dharma alone. We must honour our mother and father. That is the chief duty. Why must we do this? In the future its very reflection - reaction, resound, reflection - will stand in your life as its pattern. If today you dishonour your father, your son will dishonour you. If today you cheat your friend, tomorrow your friend will cheat you. So whatever you do, you will have to undergo its reaction. When today you honour your mother and father, tomorrow your children will honour you. So all the good and bad of your future are knotted into the present. So the Taittirīya Upaniṣad has untied well, in the present, all the good and bad of the future, and shown their form set free.
What fills everything is the principle of Brahman alone. What is the principle of Brahman? Vast consciousness. In every human being too this consciousness is present evenly. This consciousness, through the consciousness that pervades the world, has taken shape as a narrowed consciousness. The consciousness in man is narrowed consciousness. The consciousness spread everywhere is infinite consciousness. Into this infinite consciousness we must join this narrowed consciousness. How does that become possible? Now, there is air everywhere. We have blown air into a balloon. But once the balloon is tied off, the balloon's air stays limited to the balloon alone.
