Passage 13

In plain words

Or when we go to hill stations we put on heaters. If you sit in front of the heaters, the cold goes. This heater gives you comfort. In the same way, if you come near God, your bad qualities go. The good qualities of God become yours. Its good qualities come to you, your bad qualities go. So, upa: near. Ni: below. Ṣat: sit. Go and sit near it, and its good qualities become your habit. This is the true meaning of Upaniṣad. They dismiss the Upaniṣads, saying they are poems, some stories, philosophies the ṛṣis wrote.

Students! They read silly stories with faith and devotion. But could they not read these Upaniṣads and try to understand to some extent what is in them? When many children travel by train, they must have these novels there too. If they have them, they do not know whether the station has come or not. They go on, forgetting everything. Moreover, by the sway of Kali, all these televisions and videos are coming. When these children go home in the holidays, even their meals are in front of the videos. They must eat while watching the video. So as the food is, so the head becomes. As they go on watching it, those thoughts enter your food. So the head is according to the food, God according to the head. Watch good things. There is nothing wrong. But why should you not read these sacred things that give the divine path? When they have to read sacred histories, they get a headache. When they read silly stories, they do not even notice the time. This is the sway of Kali. But our students are not like that. So now and then enter this sacred satsaṅga and read the Upaniṣads, the Bible, the Koran, the itihāsas, the Granth Sāhib, good books such as these; there is nothing wrong. In all these books are sacred thoughts and sacred ideals. Because such sacred books are not read today, sacred thoughts do not come from you.

Women too are the same. They must read all the sacred books. They must see all that is sacred to see. When they are with child, they go on seeing three films, four films. So the children born to them are born film children. What is the reason? See it in the history of our Bhārata.
