In plain words

To those absorbed in God, everything appears as a living form. So great is the principle of Prema. Many people use this Prema in many ways.

The gopīs, supreme devotees, held Kṛṣṇa to be their very life and prayed to Him, believing that He was their all. Yaśodā, His mother, by contrast, believed Kṛṣṇa to be her son. She waited two days. No news came from Madhura. It is essential to recognise here the difference between the principle of Prema the gopīs had and the principle of a parent's tender love that Yaśodā had. How does this Yaśodā think of Kṛṣṇa? She thinks of Him as an ordinary boy, her darling child, a little infant.

When demons in human form gathered and chased you through the city streets, how much Balarāma and Kṛṣṇa must have suffered! Against you, mere infants, how could King Kaṃsa's heart consent to set loose the maddened elephant? Since the day you were born, made to suffer hardship upon hardship, what karma of mine is it, Kṛṣṇa, that I see it with my own eyes! Have you forgotten your mother's heart, my dear! Have you gone off to Madhura itself? Have you forgotten all love for us? Thinking you would come any moment now, I have watched till now; I cannot bear it a moment more, Kṛṣṇa!

So she lamented. There is a great difference between the feeling of devotees and the feeling of this mother. Out of the body's bond, the mother speaks this way with a mother's tender love.
