In plain words
This desire too passes in a moment! Falling into moha of this kind, man becomes the prey of much unrest, discontent, hardship and loss in his life. We have to come through all these! But place your trust in God. There is nothing wrong in our living this worldly, physical, material life with faith in God held firm in the heart. But do not believe that the material alone is Satya, that the physical alone is eternal, that this passing world alone is our support. Because, who knows at what minute, when, where! “They set the measure at a hundred years, but do not trust that word in your heart: in childhood, or in youth, or in old age, sometime, for him.”
God always gives only grace
Human life is like a bubble of water. On what are we building that mansion, which is like a bubble of water? We are building it only on the thing called ‘desire’. How long does a bubble of water last? Still, it must last as long as it is meant to last! But with faith placed in God, we must do our work and spend our lives in joy. It is the pride and possessiveness of ‘I’ and ‘mine’ that give man his joys and sorrows. It is not God who gives joys and sorrows. It is not God who gives you losses and hardships. God never gives punishment of any kind. God always gives only grace. Yet we imagine that we have fallen under God's anger. God has no anger at all; all is grace, grace alone! Then why do all these sufferings come to us. If you enquire, it is only from thinking ‘mine’, ‘I am doing,’ ‘I did,’ ‘I saw,’ ‘I experienced’! We must enquire, where did this ‘I’ come from? ‘This land is mine. This land is mine’: when you think so, the whole crop that grows on that land becomes mine, does it not! This is how it naturally is. In the same way, if you do any work thinking ‘I am doing this’, you yourself have to experience its good and bad. So, because we think ‘this is mine’, we have to take the fruit that comes from it too as ‘mine’ and experience it.
