Passage 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

How should I be with my husband? How should I be with the wives of my husband's brothers? How should I be with my husband's younger brothers?’ All of these must come under one kind of study. All of it is research! Through this research, this supremely sacred essence comes to us. So family life is not a hardship. Children are not a hardship. You should not think of them as sufferings. In this research we must not let go of our goal. Keep the goal of God in your mind!

The more powerful the voltage of the filament of faith in God within us, the brighter our life will be

In the world there are any number of educated people. A small example. Your husband may be a man of great learning. Your parents-in-law have as much money as they want, and property. Your parents too may be people of wealth and plenty. But if your child falls ill, do your parents-in-law save it? Does your husband save it? Does this scientist save it? Do these experiences save it? Then you pray to God, ‘O God?’ So it is God alone who saves all! However rich they may be, your parents-in-law cannot save it. They too will sit beside you and weep. However wealthy your mother and father may be, they too will come and weep beside you. Rather, it is God alone who saves! ‘My husband is a man of great learning! A scientist! My parents-in-law are all very wealthy!’: so thinking, you cannot depend on them. They may be wealthy. They may give you worldly comforts, but they cannot give you life. We must take life as a challenge. In that way we must face our hardships and losses in every way, and go on with life in a fine manner, with Bhakti and prapatti. Only then do we become people who have learnt the right education. We have studied; what have we studied? We have read some books or other. Physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, mathematics: all these are subjects, not objects. Only when subject and object come together does experience come to us in it. There is the negative. There is the positive. The positive may be good and powerful.
