॥॥ ॥॥

In plain words

You are praying to God for this and that. You long for a vast kingdom from God. I want that very God whom you are entreating. I need no food of any kind from you,' he said. That is, one who has true Prema for God does not beg.

There is no need to ask God for anything. He keeps giving everything that is needed at the right time. In the Rāmāyaṇa:

Do not ask, O mind, do not ask, O mind; the more you ask, the lower it sinks, and if you do not ask, the work is quickly done. (Do not ask …) Did He not cherish Śabarī, who did not ask? And Jaṭāyu, who asked nothing for himself, at the pool: did He not go to him at the last and give him the good end? (Do not ask …)

Did Śabarī ask? Did Jaṭāyu seek anything? When you call Him from the heart, purely, steadily, with full Prema, He Himself comes running. We need not open our mouths and ask for anything. This is the mark of God's Prema. It is the worth of God's Prema. Forgetting this divine principle and following the principle of the world, we are falling into so many kinds of unrest. Begging and praying: all these are the dharmas of nature. These are the dharmas of pravṛtti. This sacred principle of Prema is the dharma of nivṛtti. When we take up the principle of nivṛtti, all the pravṛttis run away. No one knows how precious are the things in God's treasury. You pray for some piece of glass, and He hands you nothing less than a ruby. You do not know how precious a thing God has meant to give. You are asking for something small. He has resolved to give something great. We must leave everything to God's will. Only then does He give what is needed. Which thing you need, which you do not need, which is good for you, which is bad for you: you do not know. He Himself gives you what is good for you, what suits you and what is ideal. At what moment, when, where and how He gives it rests on His will alone. When you offer everything to God, regard it as done for God's pleasure and remain with a steady mind, He Himself carries out everything.
