In plain words
Today you are pained to give five rupees. But some day or other you must leave all these behind and go. What can you do on that day? What can you take with you? This itself is true knowledge of the Ātma. If you recognise this Satya, then in life you must experience what is to be experienced.
When many little children do bhajans and live in Bhakti, some parents criticise. You silly boy, why do you need Bhakti at so young an age? Finish your studies, do a great job, and after you retire, sit down with a japamālā. After the senses have worn out.
When Yama's servants pull at the noose, crying 'Go, go!', when the kinsmen say in haste, 'Put him outside, there is no use now', when wife and children wail and weep, is it possible to speak Hari's name with the lips?
Retired, when his eyes and legs have given way, what japa will he do? What bhajan will he do? One must eat good fruit; would anyone eat rotten fruit? Having wasted your whole life, what sādhana can you do in old age? If you are to enter battle and win victory as a hero, you must join the army at a young age. Once you have joined the army, you can achieve it. So the training must come in childhood itself. The remembrance practised through life is itself the support at life's end. If Bhakti to God does not come from this very day, when will it come? To think it will come some time is a great mistake. It must come from now on. Only when the sapling is well formed does the tree grow well. If the sapling bends, the tree too bends. This is a very holy age. We must fill our hearts with the feeling of God. We must fill our hearts with the spirit of sacrifice. We must take up the calling of a servant. Whatever work we do, we must regard it as God's work.
Not doing japa. Not doing tapas. Not doing yoga. We must take part in service. Whomever we serve, we must believe it is service to God. God alone is in everyone. Ekātma sarvabhūtāntarātma. At this age we must fill our hearts with holy feelings alone. Otherwise, if we think they will come to us some day, that is a great mistake.
