In plain words
Baba used to teach knowledge of the Ātma both directly and indirectly. But those who lack such Jñāna, who do not know such subtlety, who cannot recognise such holiness, look at the physical and the worldly and are deluded. So all these are marks of pravṛtti.
A divine feeling and a fresh feeling must stay in us. For this, unity is very necessary. Fellow-feeling is very necessary. Dharmaja gave a fine ideal. What ideal? We are 105 brothers. We brothers are not five. When differences arise among ourselves, the Pāṇḍavas are five and the Kauravas a hundred. If anyone comes against us, we 105 join together. In the same way all the people of Bhārata must stay as one. The culture of Bhārata is one. The Dharma of Bhārata is one. The nation of Bhārata is one. Forgetting this, by fostering differences, saying you are separate and we are separate, they are torn apart and are spoiling the holiness of the country. Whatever the party, whatever the community, whatever the state, all the people of Bhārata are one. In such a feeling we must become one and resist, and set ourselves to protect the country. There may be many personal differences. When it is personal, you are yourself and he is himself. When it comes to the matter of the country, all are one. That is Dharmaja's principle. When differences arise among ourselves, we are five and they are a hundred. But if anyone comes against our country, all of us become one. We must reflect on this unity. This is Dharmaja's chief principle. For all things Dharma alone is the chief. Dharma too must be a Dharma joined with compassion.
Artha, kāma and Mokṣa must all begin with Dharma. We need money. We need money joined with Dharma. We need desires. There must be desires joined with Dharma. They must be joined with Dharma and joined with compassion. Where is this compassion? It is in the heart itself. That is the true heart.
In the body dwells the jīva, in the heart dwells God; the two play together and part from each other; there is one who holds the strings and makes the puppets dance; in the one the two abide; the two join and become one.
In the end the two become one.
