In plain words
There was a map close by. He gave him the map, cut it up and told him to put it right, to give him some work. Which country is where on the world map, he does not know. He turned it over and looked: on the back there was a picture of a man. He understood the man easily. Where the hands must be, where the head must be. He went on fitting together all the cut paper. By the time he had put the man together, he turned it over to look, and it had come out as the world map. The world map he did not know came out correct. Why did it come out correct? When the man came out correct, the world map came out correct. If first of all man becomes man, the whole world will be good. First of all, man, become man. Man, behave as man. Man, live as man. This itself is the state of Mādhava. If man too turns into a beast, how then can the world be seen? That is impossible. First of all, live as a man. Do not sink to a beast. Do not take the shape of a demon. Man must live as a man of wisdom. That alone is enough. That itself is the path to your divinity.
Today the mind is the cause of man's becoming man, of his turning into a beast and of his taking shape as Mādhava. Humanness does not exist apart. Animality does not exist apart. Divinity does not exist apart. The very oneness of the three is humanness. When you live with the good principle of Prema, with kindness and compassion, you yourself turn into divinity. If you, lost in the senses and subject to the senses, live at their beck and call, you turn into a demon. Anger coming in a moment, agitation coming in a moment: all these take shape in mere moments. This is the mark of rajoguṇa. Turning good into bad and bad into good is the mark of tamoguṇa. So man is of the nature of the three guṇas. The world too is of the very nature of the three guṇas. In a world made of the three guṇas, we must take shape as human beings made of the three guṇas. The man of the three guṇas must go beyond the three guṇas. Only then is Brahmānanda attained. Bear God's command on your head. We must obey God's command. We must understand God's will. There must arise the good feeling: ‘Though divinity is in everyone, it has revealed itself to me in a name and form.’ If you hold the feeling that the two bodies are one, it is not possible at all. The bodies are alike. The feelings are indeed separate. God is fond of the inner feeling, not of the outward.
