Passage 6

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

How many are there now with purity of thought, word and deed in this way? How many are achieving this unity? They are doing sādhanas for years together. They keep on reading all the spiritual books that have come out in the world. They are doing pārāyaṇa of the Rāmāyaṇa. They are doing pārāyaṇa of the Bhagavad Gītā and the Bhāgavata. After doing so much, what is the use? Are we achieving even a little? Put your hand on your heart and see. That itself will teach the truth. What is the use of living like this for so many days? Our heart itself is witness for us. What use then is there in doing sādhanas? What use is there in taking part in a gathering? What use is there in doing pārāyaṇa? What use is there in offering prayers? All these are like puffed rice gone with the wind. That is not what we must achieve. How the true and eternal is: that must come from your own heart. Today every task we do is taking an artificial form.

Students! We must become heartful. Whatever task you do, you must do it wholeheartedly. art is outside. heart is inside. Follow the heart. If instead we follow people who belong to the outside, there is no use in it. Heads are different. Thoughts are different. Actions are different. Fruits are different. Why do you imitate? Follow your own heart. Imitation is human creation is Divine. That creation must emerge from your heart. Whatever kinds of doubts there are, it keeps going forward, struggling and pushing on. What is the reason? That is the inspiration of Satya. We must be immersed in the vibration called Satya. This vibration is everywhere. Because we do not see it, we do not believe. The air is all round us. But it is not seen by our eyes. Are you unable to believe in it? In the same way the divine vibration is all round us. In you around you. We must recognise at least a little that divine principle of the Ātma. Many people are doing sādhanas. They listen to the lives of great souls in gatherings. How much are we filling into our heart? We are not filling it. Just as what is eaten goes out, just as the air breathed in is let out again, they let the things they have heard go out too. What must be let go is what is worldly, not what is divine. Today, whatever kind of sādhanas they do in the world, not the least Ānanda is gained.
