In plain words
That is the root cause of Rāvaṇa's fall. For the Bhāgavata, they said, anger is the cause. Hiraṇyakaśipu, through anger against God, was slain by God; in the Bhārata, greed. The Rāmāyaṇa, lust; the Bhāgavata, anger; the Bhāgavata, greed. Even when there was one person in each of them, the country fell so low. Today these three qualities are in one and the same person. Then how low will it bring man! These three alone are the obstacles to sacred Divinity. The Veda taught that these three are the gates of hell. In the Rāmāyaṇa, the Bhārata and the Bhāgavata, only one quality each was present. In man today the three qualities have come together. Lust, anger, greed. What fate must befall him! He goes to ruin, with no form or name left. So first of all we must try to destroy lust, anger and greed. Only on the day we remove them from us will it be as if we have lived. Only then do fame and good name come to us. Otherwise we fall into infamy and disgrace. To look at, we are like the fig. Open its belly and look: there are worms inside. We pretend to look happy. We laugh. It is all turning into cinema acting. Ānanda must come from our heart. That is your satisfaction. That is true Ānanda. That is the true property. who is the poorest man in the world? He who has more desires. who is the richest man in the world! He who has much satisfaction. Only one who has satisfaction is truly a man of Śānti. Who has satisfaction? There is no satisfaction at all. There is craving, but no satisfaction. Tṛṣṇā means desires growing from minute to minute. Let us not follow this tṛṣṇā. Follow Kṛṣṇa. When you follow Kṛṣṇa, everything is gained. We must remember God's Name. We must carry out God's command. How many of them are we carrying out? In the Rāmāyaṇa they spoke of keeping the father's word. But how many practise keeping the father's word? Rāma is the embodiment of Satya. We are all Asatya. Once a year we perform the Satyanārāyaṇa vrata. No. Satataṃ satyam. We must make at least a little effort to keep to such Satya. But we do not practise it. Open your mouth, and it is Asatya. Whatever we say is Asatya. It has become impossible even to recognise what Satya is.
