Passage 4

In plain words

God alone is the Father. The men and women in this world are His children. So only when there is such a sacred feeling does it take shape as the vyāvahārika truth. What is the prātibhāsika truth like? In the pāramārthika, the vyāvahārika and the prātibhāsika, water, coolness and sweetness are present in all three. So, whether in the pāramārthika, the vyāvahārika or the prātibhāsika, man must try to transform his qualities into divinity.

Only when the divine Ātmatattva is in the Manas, in the citta, in the Buddhi and in the aham is there true, natural humanness. Man today does not understand what kindness and consideration mean. He is ready to cause the person before him any amount of pain, but this hard heart stays without pity when it sees that pain. The heart must melt on seeing a person who is suffering. That is true compassion. Only then can one call him a man. They speak of mankind. Without kindness, how can it be mankind? Our heart must be full of kindness everywhere and at all times. From time without beginning, Bhārata has gone on spreading and teaching such sacred sayings. But what is the fault here? They went on spreading and teaching, but it has gone missing from practice. Only when it comes into practice does Ānanda arise. No man is putting it into practice. Every man must take the books he has read, or the sacred things he has heard, or the sacred things he has lived through, put them into practice and set about sharing them with others. Even if not all of them, you must put at least one or two into practice. A small example. In a foreign land, a man who ran a boat sat down himself in front of the steering. Some need arose; he called his little son and said, ‘Hello, my boy, you sit here; I will go and come back soon.’ From the time he was born, that boy had been reading the Rāmāyaṇa in that language. The boy kept this truth in mind. He sat at this steering. As karma would have it, fire broke out in the boat. Those in the boat put down life boats and were rushing here and there. Ever so many came and pleaded with the boy. ‘My boy, you too save your life,’ they said. ‘I will give up my life, but I will not give up my father's command,’ he said.
