In plain words

“O You who recline on Vāsuki, Śrīnivāsa, Cidvilāsa, cut the bonds of worldly life and grant joy to the heart; You who dwell in radiant Kalyāṇapura, Lord of the world who protect Śrī Śeṣagopadāsa, Ṛṣikeśa, come quickly and protect me, O charmer of the heart of Śrī Ramā, bringer of good to all who take refuge in You!”

How beautiful He is! This is poetry. The whole paper is filled with this poetry.

In every lane and corner, and in everyone, You alone dwell in joy, so I hear, O Śrīdhara! Moon-faced One, whose lotus feet the hosts of the gods and Indra worship, Nityānanda, Govinda, come quickly and protect me! O charmer of the heart of Śrī Ramā, bringer of good to all who take refuge in You!”

They wrote a letter filled with lovely poetry like this. The paper is precious! The letters are very beautiful! The poetry too is wonderful! But we put it in an envelope. The poetry has value. The letters have value. The envelope has value. The paper has value. They wrote the address and posted it. But it did not reach the one it was meant for. Why? There was no stamp. In the same way, we sing bhajans with rāga and tāla. There is beauty and grace in all of it, but the stamp of self-confidence is not there. We must put the stamp of self-confidence on it. This confidence is missing. Prema befitting śraddhā and faith. Only when there is Prema does śraddhā come. Only when there is śraddhā does faith come. In the end, faith, śraddhā and Prema are not three different things; they are one! Just as foam, wave and ocean have become one, so there must be oneness among these three, śraddhā, faith and Prema. This is the true basis of Vedānta. In this Vedānta, what is the inner meaning of the three, icchā, parecchā and ayecchā?
