In plain words
To Foster Praśānti, Remember the Name of God
First of all we must keep our resolves under control. We must develop good resolves. Only when we bring about this growth will humanness blossom and show itself. The influence of the world today is reaching a very perverse state. Wherever you look, in every country, unrest of this kind is flaring up. If we are to drive away this unrest, if we are to foster Praśānti, you must hold to the sacred Name of God. Street by street, house by house, we must think on God. Only then will our life go on in Praśānti. See for yourselves. When bhajan is sung, the whole sound of that bhajan merges into the air. Here is an example to clear the doubt whether it merges in this way or not. In Delhi someone is speaking on the radio. If what is spoken in Delhi is to be heard in Prasanthi Nilayam, where has it come from? This air comes by electric waves. All of it comes by air waves, by electric waves. When we utter a sacred name, it merges into the air. That sacred air drives away some impurity. When we breathe in that air, only sacred feelings arise in us. If we make the air impure, we have to breathe in that same air. As that air goes on, thoughts grow. I said it once:
As the fire, so the smoke; as the smoke, so the cloud; as the cloud, so the rain; as the rain, so the crop; as the crop, so the cooking; as the cooking, so the feeling.
So our intellects go the way the cooking goes. That is why we must take the unity of the three: food, head, God. We must have good food.
