In plain words
In the world today, would a man who knew the value of a ruby leave it on the table? Would he use it like a paper weight? If he knows its value, he puts it in a Godrej safe and locks it.
The Prema of God is supremely sweet
First of all we must recognise the value of the Ātmatattva. You must recognise the value of the jewel. Tulasīdās regarded the jewel of the Name as a great gem. Who gave this? This is to be had only through God's grace! God Himself is this jewel. It is to be had only from God. It is not to be had in the market or in a shop. Of this, the master is God. So only when we take refuge in the Paramātma do we gain this jewel. Do you know what this jewel is like! It shines with the light of a thousand suns. But even that falls short. Do you know what that Prema of God is like? If you set the Prema of God beside amṛta, they say, the amṛta tastes flat. So sweet is that Prema, they say!
Sweet the speech, sweet the eyes, sweet the hand, sweet the heart, sweet the hearing: of the Lord of Madhurā all is sweet, sweet...
Your very hearing is the sweetness of Ānanda. Speech itself is sweet. Your heart itself is sweet. Your hand itself is supremely sweet. All is sweet! Even the blood that flows from the tips of the nails to the crown of the head is sweet. How can those who have recognised this truth long for this worldly, physical, material, impermanent, transient, momentary world? Only the one who does not know that taste longs for it. What is the reason? Through the evil deeds of past births he has become bereft of Jñāna.
