In plain words
The pleasure is an interval between two pains. A pleasure lies only between two pains. So to everything I say, ‘Good.’ What is the reason? In Me there is nothing but good. If you pour pāyasam into a vessel with ten holes, from whichever hole it comes, pāyasam alone will come; will poison come out of one of them?
Fill Your Heart with Prema, and Whatever Work You Do Will Be Full of Prema
I have filled Myself to the full with Prema alone. That Prema is sweetness in hearing, sweetness in speech, sweetness in smell, sweetness in deed, sweetness in the Manas, sweetness in the Buddhi, sweetness in the heart! All is sweetness! Fill your heart with Prema. Then whatever work you do will be full of Prema. That is the true heart. ‘Hṛdayam’: why did it get this name? What is filled with compassion: that is the heart. A hard heart is no heart at all. It is stone. Poison. It cannot be called a heart. A heart filled with Prema. Only man knows what that heart is about. Beasts, birds and animals do not know it at all. They go on living their natural daily life. Man lives by making certain changes in his own nature. Birds take the grain from the ripened crop and eat it. They enter the crop and eat the grass. But man is not like that. He separates the paddy grown in the straw. He separates the husk from the paddy. He takes out the rice and cooks it. After cooking it, he mixes in vegetables and eats. He does not eat what grows just as it grew, does he! He refines it and experiences joy in it. Man alone is the one who refines and then enjoys. Look at a monkey. It is the species that came before man. Throw it a banana. It does not bite into it just as it is. It peels it and eats. How much sense it has! These people came from that very creature. ‘Vānara’ means it has a tail. He who has no tail is ‘nara’. That is the only difference. It has all his antics. These people have all its antics. They have this one's desires too. This one has their desires too. They said ‘Mankind’. How must man be? He must be kind.
