In plain words
Not money: God alone is the friend in need
Embodiments of Prema! Today, try to recognise the principle of Prema. Tomorrow you can set about recognising the Satya that goes with Prema. Only when the young women and young men of today rightly recognise what Prema is and what God is will your whole life travel on the royal road. What is this? What bond is there with this body, like a water bubble, and this mind, like a mad monkey? Somehow, through our delusion, we fall into so many plights. The mind of the man of today does its concentration on money alone. Whatever he does, money. Wherever he goes, money. Wherever he looks, money. The young women and young men of today are all setting off for foreign countries. What are they going for? They are going for money. Can they not stay here and earn money! Money is needed. It is necessary. How much is needed? You need money to live. Is it not possible for you to live in this country? Will he who planted the seedlings not water them? Earning money beyond limit brings sorrow. He gave two hands. He gave one stomach. If you work with your two hands, will your stomach not be filled! This is the very tapas you must do. hands in the society, head in the forest. Otherwise, if you say Śānti, Śānti, where will you find it? Earning money in plenty: i am enjoying. What does enjoy mean? Getting every pleasure? That is not it. If you want to take the right meaning of this word: end joy --> enjoy. Sāyināth told a story. He gives the names Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, Govinda and Mādhava to his four sons. Fearing he might be parted from all of them, he had shops built for all of them. But in the very end, what happened? Did Rāma come, did Kṛṣṇa come, did Mādhava come, did Govinda come? None of them went. In the very end he himself went. Neither the money he earned nor the house he acquired: nothing went with him.
All your kin come as far as the doorway, to the burning ground they will come, yes; the one who breaks your bonds and never leaves you, the friend in need, is the Name of God!
That alone stays with us, at our side, as our companion, in our home.
Unity, purity, divinity
Develop the feeling of God. The young men of today can uplift the country to any extent. They can drive away the unrest that has spread today and establish peace and security. These young women and young men must improve this whole world, bound up with injustice, wrongdoing and misconduct. To drive away unrest, to destroy it, the young alone are fit and able. Set your life on a good path. Fill your hearts with sacred feelings. Honour your mother and father. Love God. These three are things you must surely do. But on today's path, why must we hold this gathering? What has happened now? Children do not honour their mother and father. Parents do not see to their children's future. Between friend and friend, enmities are starting. The ties of kin are drifting apart. In such a situation, to bring about oneness, we must teach a kind of principle of Prema. We must bring into union this body, bound up with such separations. We must win this unity. To win unity, the children's hearts must be in purity. For this purity to be there, divinity must enter into them. You must recognise well the relation of these three, unity, purity, divinity. So divinity is very important. What is said is divine, but what is done is deep wine. That is not it. We must go only into the divine. With our mouths we say, ‘Rāmā, Kṛṣṇā, Govindā’. We say even these names as if we were insulting them. When we say ‘Rāmā, Kṛṣṇā’, how pure our heart should be! What is said with the mouth is one thing; what is done with the heart is another. Such people are wicked souls. In spiritual life it has been said, ‘The great are one in mind, one in word, one in deed’. When what you do goes against what you say, you are not a man. You are a demon. You must become a man. You must develop humanness. What is humanness? It is precisely Satya, Dharma, Śānti and Prema. If man, the very root of these human values, has no values of man in him, how can that be? Man alone is the root cause of all values.
