In plain words

With those streams of tears the letters Kṛṣṇa wrote will be washed away. I will not touch it, I will not read it,” she said. “Just as you have brought a message from God, we too will send God a message from us,” they said. Each Gopī went on saying something of her own. “Kṛṣṇa!

If You flourish as a tree, I shall twine about You as a creeper; if You bloom in beauty as a flower, I shall hover round You as a bee; if You are the majestic height of Mount Meru, I shall flow down it as a mountain stream; if You are the boundless sky, I shall be a little star, sparkling in You; if You are the brimming ocean, I shall be a river and become one with You.”

They told him to say that they had prayed, ‘Grant us such a boon.’ If You are a tree, we must become creepers. If You are the boundless sky, we must shine out as stars. If You stand as a mountain, I must flow as a mountain stream. If You are a flower, I must come as a bee and enter it. They asked to be granted a boon of this kind. That is, the Gopīs, who would not accept separation from God in the least, went on suffering such anguish in order to become one with God. All this anguish began in the lotus of the heart. These are the eight petals. These eight petals are God's queens. It is with these eight petals as the base that one must journey up to the sahasrāra. Without taking the heart as the base, there is no entering the sahasrāra lotus. In these twelve months the sun enters the twelve signs. Once the sun has entered the line of Makara, for six months it is in the form of Uttarāyaṇa. Today is the day the sun enters Uttarāyaṇa. Bhīṣmācārya vowed that he would give up his life only on this sacred day of the entry into Uttarāyaṇa. Lying on his bed of arrows, Bhīṣma went on waiting 56 days for this time of Uttarāyaṇa.
