You are all embodiments of the divine Ātma. When you have placed this principle of Prema in you, you become embodiments of the divine Ātma. To become embodiments of the divine Ātma, one must cultivate divine Prema. Without that divine Prema, there is no fitness to be called “Embodiments of the divine Ātma”. Every human being must cultivate Prema within himself, more or less. Love God. In the world there is only one thing, one alone, worthy of love. That is God. Mother and father are to be loved in the way of the world. They too belong to the negative. Because they are impermanent. The only lasting principle is divinity. Love that divinity, cultivate divinity, and make your purity worthwhile. This is the true and chief essence of Śivarātri. Since we are born, we must earn a worthwhile name. We must surely develop divinity. We must bring out the divinity hidden in us. We must make the very divinity that is in us emerge. We must do sādhanas of this kind. We need not go anywhere. If one goes to the ant-hill and plays the flute, the snake will surely come out of the ant-hill. In the same way, when we turn the divinity in us into the divine Ātma, it takes shape as divinity itself. Constantly remember the name of God. Whether loudly, whether softly, whether in the heart, remember the divine. Whatever work you do, do it with love. Then you will win success. Without love, any good task taken up with irritation or with hatred turns into a failure. So if you want success, you must enter the task with love. One must not hate anyone in any way. What is the reason? God Himself is in everyone. Divinity alone is in everyone. Foreigners say, “Do the people of Bhārata have so many gods?” No, no, there is only one God. They experience Him by many names. A precious diamond has many facets. Through its many facets it shines with many lights. Because it shines with many lights, it is not many diamonds; it is one diamond. In the same way, the divinity called godhood shines with many lights. The diamond is God. If you gain that diamond, die mind: the mind is destroyed. Then you take shape as positive.
