Passage 15

In plain words

Individual, family: all of this depends on society. Only when society is good is our family good. Only when the family is good is the individual good. So, developing this sacred trust and nourishing our culture, many great ṛṣis, great souls and swamis have flourished from time without beginning. Just because this feeling arose, however many troubles came to Bhārata, however many hardships came, though ages passed, though worlds shook, our culture has not changed in the least.

This feeling is eternal through and through. It is very lofty. It is very sacred. It is wholly exemplary. Most wonderful. Full of nectar. Having gained immortality.

Today we are giving up such a culture. Becoming mere slaves to Western civilisation, we are trying to lose our own culture altogether. Westerners, all of them, trusting in the culture of Bhārata, are going through many kinds of hardship for its sake. Otherwise, could so many come here? They are people who lived amid so many pleasures, so much ease, so many joys, so many comforts! But giving up everything, they are facing all these hardships, losses and sorrows. Just once ask them, ‘when did you come’, and that is enough: they are filled with joy. Speak to them just once, and that is enough: they are overjoyed. Where could this joy come from? It grows through their faith alone. So through their very faith all their wishes are being fulfilled.
