Human life is made of saṅkalpas. Saṅkalpas alone are man's wealth. As the saṅkalpa is, so exactly is the result that comes. A man's words and deeds go on precisely on the basis of his saṅkalpas. When a man's deeds or a man's words go wrong, the fault lies in the saṅkalpas themselves. Because the saṅkalpas are not right, some mistakes keep arising in these words or in these deeds. ‘Yad bhāvaṃ tad bhavati.’ A man's life rests precisely on his feelings. Words cost nothing. But their fruit is plentiful. It is absolutely essential to use such sacred words on the proper path and in right conduct. A sacred power lies held within the word. The hidden principle in man can be expressed through words alone. The joy and the sweetness in words, the goodness in words, are in nothing else. On this very basis the nature of words takes shape from the mind. The oneness of these three, mind, word and deed, is itself what is called humanness. That is why it has been said, ‘The proper study of mankind is man.’ As our saṅkalpas are, so are our words. As our words are, so are our works. But today man's saṅkalpas are one thing, his words another, and his deeds set off in yet another way.
