Passage 1

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

If the feeling in the mind is good, success in the work is sure to come; if the feeling in the mind is impure, the fruit too becomes impure in the same way.

They make light of good and holy people when they see them; what lack is there for them on the earth? Seeing an elephant, how many dogs bark! What lack is there for it on the earth?

Students!

Today, all over the world, envy and Ahaṅkāra have grown beyond all bounds. If anyone in the class gets a 1st class, the other children look at them and feel envy. When someone is healthy and contented, the others look at them and feel envy. Seeing a rich man, the poor form many kinds of wrong notions. In the same way, among birds, the cranes look at the swan and mock it. The crows think the cuckoo's song harsh to the ear. People of the world are crows. Without fearing this, we must rely on our Satya and make the effort needed to lead our life on the right path, on the proper path. The elephant goes along the bazaar in its stately gait, minding nothing. However many dogs bark, it does not mind them in the least. Where is the elephant, and where are the dogs? There is no comparison at all. In the same way, the cuckoo sings with a very sweet voice. Will the cuckoo stop its song for fear of the crows' cawing? But in today's human world, many people may see our goodness, our progress, our welfare, our purity, and feel envy. But we must purify the feelings in us; we must not give in to the feelings of others in any way. We must not be cast down.

'If the feeling in the mind is good, success in the work is sure to come.' We must see to it that the feelings in us are pure; we must not change our feelings in the least because of what others feel.
