Passage 8

In plain words

All bodies are coloured balloons. They come in all sizes. The balloons' sizes differ, their colours differ, but the air blown into them is one. The air that has gone into each balloon takes on the balloon's form. The air that is not in the balloon is spread everywhere. The air spread everywhere is consciousness; what is in this balloon is conscience. What must you do for this conscience to become consciousness? If you blow too much air into this balloon, it bursts with a pop. It becomes one with the air that is everywhere. Turn the Prema that is attachment to the body into attachment to all. Then God and you, the two, become one. It is only a difference of quantity; the quality is one. When you look at the ocean, it looks big. But if you bring the ocean's water in a small tumbler, it looks little. There is a difference of quantity, but the taste in that ocean and the taste in the glass of water are one. Without knowing this oneness of taste, man is wasting his life.

So, within humanness, divinity is a power of attraction. A small example. So many thousands of people have come here. Who invited them? Who sent an invitation? We never print invitations. Where has all this come from? The Prema that body has for this body, the attraction, is the root cause of the affection. You were not brought here by force. You all know that for these political meetings they send lorries and bring everyone in. But even when we say, ‘No one should come, do not come,’ they keep coming. All this is the attraction of Prema. That is divinity. That is the divine magnet. That is the true magnet. A small example. You can find this sacred scene in the sacred story of the Rāmāyaṇa. King Janaka saw that Sītā had lifted Śiva's bow in her childhood, and he promised, ‘To the one who lifts this bow of Śiva I will give my daughter in marriage.’ Who is Sītā? Where did this young girl get so much strength from? She is born of the earth, the daughter of the earth. So she had that power of attraction. The whole earth is a power of attraction. The whole earth is a magnet. Wherever you look, there is magnetism alone.
