How is this? They merge just as metals join the gold, so that is not right. What comes for a purpose, appearing in the dream truly, in its right form: only that is true. It is a great mistake to think, ‘Swami has no compassion for me,’ just because He does not appear in a dream. Swami has compassion.
Do your deeds with the feeling, ‘All action is for the love of God’
The third question. Everyone is doing sādhanas. ‘I too long to do sādhana. But I do not get the time. I am immersed in the tasks of my business, which belongs to the world, and I do not think of Swami with a proper heart. So I do not get the proper time to do Swami's service,’ he said. This is very wrong. To think of Swami, do you need some special time of your own? Go to your office. You need not give up the office. Work in the office. Do your work properly. As you do it, think that all this is God's work. That too is God's task. That too is Swami's task. It is the service of God itself. It is in this very light that they said work is worship, duty is God. So you need not sit apart and say, ‘Sāīrām, Sāīrām.’ Do any work. Think of all this as God's task. They said, “Sarvaṃ khalvidaṃ Brahma.” They held, “Sarvakarma bhagavatprītyarthaṃ.” Think, ‘I am doing all my tasks for the love of God.’ That itself is great sādhana. You thought you would do sādhana. You sat down to do sādhana. You sat in meditation; did you hold your mind still even for one moment? Why should one do this meditation? Why should you ask for time for a thing like this? So look after the work of your home. Whatever work you do, think of it as all action for the love of God. Why? Because ‘Karmānubandhīni manuṣyaloke.’ Every man is bound up with karma. What is karma? Sweeping the streets, looking after the sick: this much alone is not service. That alone is not karma. Karma means movement itself; that is karma. Even your breathing in and breathing out is karma. Your eyes blink. All that is karma. You sleep. All that is karma. You study; all that is karma. You eat; all that is karma.
