In plain words
So if you are good, the result that comes to you will be good too. Now and then I put on anger, only to lead you along the good path. But without recognising this truth, you think, “Swami is not talking to us, not looking at us.” How far have you kept Swami in your mind? How are you using the chance Swami has given you? That too I keep watching. When a beggar comes to the door and asks, “Mother! I am hungry,” the lady of the house stops even her own eating and serves him. But if, before her very eyes, he goes off throwing that food this way and that, will she give him food when he comes to the door a second time? “You are wasting the food I gave you. I will not give you food again. Go away!” she says. Swami is just the same! When you put to good use the chance Swami has given you, Swami blesses you beyond measure. If instead you misuse the chance you were given and then hope for it again, it is of no use. God is fond of His devotees, true; but He is not caught so easily. He is caught, and won, by Prema alone.
Give up bad feelings; I will fill you with good ones
Embodiments of Prema! Everyone has Bhakti and prapatti. All are good! But some do not know how they should conduct themselves. Some, even knowing, are not walking on the right path. Because they foster worldly desires beyond measure, their longing for God's grace is dwindling. If you want to recognise the principle of God, first root out the faults within you. If you fill the vessel of your heart with bad feelings and then say, “Swami! Fill me with Your grace and Your Prema,” how can it be done? First give up bad feelings and keep the vessel of your heart empty. Only then is it possible to fill it with Prema.
Into a head that holds nothing you can put anything; a head crammed with this and that cannot be filled; can heads filled with the teachings of the Kali age become empty? unless the head is emptied, can good deeds be filled in on this earth?
