Passage 3

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

But for the man of today, what he thinks is one thing, what he says is another, what he does is another. That is why he is turning into a wicked soul.

The goal of all sādhanas

Embodiments of Prema! Human birth is supremely exalted, noble and virtuous. Man is equal to God. Where is God? All of you are indeed embodiments of God! “Deho devālaya prokto jīvo devassanātanaḥ”: the body itself is the temple, the jīva itself is God. To recognise this truth is the very goal of all sādhanas. The human body is a moving temple. In it is installed the God called the Ātma. Him the Veda

“without attributes, without stain, eternal, the abode, ever pure, awakened, free, of spotless form”:

has described in this way. When such a God is within you yourselves, is it not madness for you to go off somewhere to search for God? At present there are 600 crore temples in this world. What are these temples? Human bodies themselves! Every body is itself a temple. The power of consciousness that is in the body is itself God. That is why the Veda taught, “Īśvarassarva bhūtānāṃ”. Godhood is present in all beings. So wherever you see a man, you must feel that you are seeing a temple. In every man is God, the embodiment of the Ātma. It is not the beauty and charm of the ‘temple’ that you should look at; you must see the God within it, the embodiment of the Ātma, and rejoice. You must not revile anyone, torment anyone or hurt anyone. Only he who recognises this truth and acts on it is a true devotee. How can one who reviles and mocks others as he pleases be a devotee? One can only call such a man utterly base.

An ideal ruler

Regarding the body as a temple, you must first of all honour that temple.
