In plain words
Embodiments of Prema!
Prema is beyond the three guṇas. It is endless. It is full of nectar. This Prema is an immortal light that flows without a pause. This is what the ṛṣis have called the Ātma. This Ātma, whose form is Prema, shines on even in the heart of everyone. Prema, the Ātma and the heart are only other names for divinity. This Prema has no feelings of difference at all, of "one's own" and "another's". Prema is free of self-interest. That is why Vedānta has spoken of it as "Prema-svarūpiṇaṃ". The bridge of Prema is like a compass. Wherever you set it, it keeps turning to the north alone. At any time, in any place, in any situation, Prema always leads you towards God alone. So each person must try to understand the principle of Prema.
Prema alone is the equal of Prema. Prema alone is the fruit of Prema. Prema alone is the taste of Prema. The principle of this Prema cannot be compared with anything else. No language and no poetry is to be found in this world that can describe this Prema. That is why: 'yato vācā nivartante aprāpyamanasā sahaḥ'. The principle of this Prema is a principle beyond the mind and beyond speech. Prema and anurāga: the two are one and the same. But when this anurāga is turned towards the objects and desires of the world, it becomes somewhat tainted. Through this taint, joys and sorrows arise. Man falls prey to hope and despair. But when Prema is turned towards God, it becomes eternal, true and pure, selfless, unbounded, and takes on a divine form. This,
"Nirguṇaṃ nirañjanaṃ sanātanaṃ niketanaṃ nitya śuddha buddha mukta nirmala svarūpiṇaṃ"
is how Vedānta has described it. The śāstras have taught that nectar is very sweet. But beside the nectar of Prema it does not measure up even in the least. In Prema, nectar turns tasteless. Ordinary people cannot understand this sacred principle of Prema. This Prema is only the sacred form that is born when an ocean of Ānanda is churned.
When the ocean that is the nectar of the Name is churned, this nectar called Prema arises. This Prema is the treasure of nectar that comes forth when all the śāstras, Itihāsas and Purāṇas are churned. So we must do our karmas with Prema. But in this world, as a rule, the Prema of men takes on an outward form. When the goldsmith who makes jewels from pure gold mixes metals like copper and silver into it, that golden colour and its value go down to some extent.
