Passage 8

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

There is no sin greater than reviling others

Those who blame others can truly be called the worst of sinners. “Greater than all sins is blaming others, brother.” So you must not blame anyone. The One in everyone is God Himself. If you happen to see some fault in another, you must make it known to him and correct it with good words, but you must not set about reviling him. Spirituality does not mean giving up everything, holding your nose and sitting turning a japamālā. First of all good feelings must arise in you.

Smiles must dance on your face all the time. In no situation whatever must you put on a ‘castor oil face’. Happiness is union with God: only when you join God do you attain Ānanda. The one who contemplates God is always joyful. In the world many hardships keep coming. However many come, you must not mind them. Whether or not you really believe it, nobody has as much reviling and praise as I have. The one whose desires are fulfilled praises highly; the one whose desires are not met reviles. This reviling and this praise are both confined to their lips alone; they do not reach Me at all. In the name Sri Sathya Sai there are three S's.

To those who say Yes, Sai says Yes; to those who say No, Sai says No; No and Yes belong only to your mouths; for Sai, everything is Yes, Yes, Yes!

If one reviles aloud, it melts into the air. If one reviles within oneself, it goes to oneself alone; it does not come to Me. I am always in Ānanda. Ānanda itself is My nature. Only the one who is attached to the body is subject to joys and sorrows. But for Me there is no joy and no sorrow. Because for Me there is no attachment to the body at all. What belongs to the body is Conscious. What belongs to the Ātma is Consciousness. I am not Conscious, I am Consciousness, that is, the embodiment of consciousness.
