In plain words

That day Easwaramma overflowed with joy. Holding My hands: “What more do I need than this, Swami! My heart's wish is fulfilled,” she said. “From now on be happy,” I said. “Not yet; there is more,” she said.

Some time later Easwaramma asked, “Swami! Have a small school built in our village.” As she wished, I had a small school built in Puttaparthi. Little by little I made it into a big building. Easwaramma went and saw it. She kissed the little children who were there and showered her love upon them. She was very happy. “Swami! In this Kali age only sons who torment their parents are being born; sons who love them are not being born. In such a time, it is my good fortune that a son like You, who fulfils his mother's heart's wishes, was born,” she said.

Then another day she came: “Swami! The people of our village are in distress over the shortage of water. Provide them with water,” she asked. “It will be done, it will be done; do not worry,” I said. These days, when many people want water, they sink borewells. But sinking borewells does no good. Water comes for a while, and after that not even a single drop remains in them. So I do not like to have borewells sunk. In the old Mandir itself I had a well dug. Whatever one resolves with a good mind bears fruit. We had not dug even seven feet. A big spring of water burst forth. I had a door put at the back of the Mandir, so that all the villagers could come and take water away. You know this: little by little I had water brought from the Tuṅgabhadrā to the whole of Anantapur district, and had it given to them. It cost about three hundred crore rupees. Truly, if all the elders, officials, ministers and the rest, set their minds to it, any number of such works could be done. But no one sets his mind to it. All they do is hoard what they have earned; no one takes up such good works with a spirit of sacrifice.

Yesterday a prominent person came here. “Swami! There is no one but You who speaks in this way. Hold summer classes for the ministers too,” he said. He too had once been a minister himself!
