Passage 10

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

“Like one who came as a daughter-in-law yesterday and has turned mother-in-law today, you preach these morals very well now. But why did you not do such good work when you were a minister?” I asked. “What happened has happened. Even now I am saying the same. Bring in the precious water of life and give it to everyone.” Water itself is the life of man. Even at the hour of death, they pour water into the throat, do they not! Education, medical care, water: these three are very important for every human being. As Easwaramma wished, I have given all three free. Here there is no entrance fee. There is no examination fee. There is no fee of any kind. With Swami, education and medical care are completely free! Today the people of Bhārata are selling education, selling medical care. It is beyond understanding why the people of Bhārata are sinking so low. What a holy land Bhārata is! What a land of sacrifice! What a land of yoga! Today they are trying to turn it into a land of indulgence. This is not good. Eat a handful of rice and the stomach is full; drink a glass of water and the thirst is quenched. Why this greed for the whole of the Gaṅgā's water to quench one's thirst! Those who harbour greed and evil feelings will meet the very fate that befell Duryodhana and Duśśāsana.

Foster Prema, Bangārū!

Children! You are very young. From this tender age itself, shape your future well. Move lovingly with your friends and companions. If you have two pens, give one away to someone who has none. What happiness comes to you from having more than you need? If you give it to someone who has none, it will be of use, won't it! Foster Prema, Bangārū! There is no wealth greater than Prema. If you have Prema, you will surely become rich; you will become people of standing. The Veda taught, “Mātṛdevobhava, pitṛdevobhava.” Honour your parents. Before you go to school, and before you go to bed at night, bow to them. There is no God higher than your parents. Do not talk back to them. If ever something they do seems wrong to you, wait for a fitting moment and tell them lovingly. Only when you honour your parents today will your children honour you in the future. Welcome the guests and visitors who come to your home.
