In plain words
This material peace is no peace. The peace that is one with the Supreme Principle is the true peace. Man need not search for such peace in the world outside. All that is outside is unrest. Peace lies within man himself. Peace itself is his svarūpa. Only when he recognises the truth “Ekātmā sarvabhūtāntarātma” can he live in peace and happiness at all times. We must recognise the truth, ‘Others are not others; they are the very form of the Paramātma.’ It is not right to encourage one person and hate another out of partiality.
Worship and Vratas Are Only for Purity of Mind
Embodiments of Prema! Because Swami's body is coming to its seventy-fifth year, devotees from Bangalore have had 750 Gaṇapatis brought here and are worshipping them. Bring and set up 750 Gaṇapatis, or bring and set up seven crore Gaṇapatis: Gaṇapati is only one. When there is no purity of mind, however many Gaṇapatis you bring and worship, it is of no use. Worship even a single Gaṇapati with the feeling that the Ātma is one, and that is enough. What are these acts of worship and these vratas for? “Cittasya śuddhaye karma”: all of them were set up only for purity of mind. Mysore pak, gulab jamun and the other sweets: the sugar in them is one and the same, is it not! In the same way, in the nine paths of Bhakti named śravaṇaṃ, kīrtanaṃ, viṣṇuḥsmaraṇaṃ, pādasevanaṃ, vandanaṃ, arcanaṃ, dāsyaṃ, snehamātmanivedanaṃ, what flows within as the undercurrent is Prema, and Prema alone. So follow the principle of Prema. That itself is the right sādhana.
Only Action Offered to God Is Fruitful
Our sacred ancient culture teaches that before beginning any action we must offer it to God. That is why a lorry driver salutes the steering wheel before he sits down in his seat; a dancer touches her anklets to her eyes before she puts them on. One who recites the Bhagavad Gītā first of all bows to the book. What is the inner meaning of this? We must first of all bow to the action with the feeling, “The action I am about to do must be fruitful.” Even an unlettered lorry driver salutes the steering wheel with deep reverence and devotion. But the scientist, rich in knowledge as he is, lacks this understanding. Ahaṅkāra itself is the root cause of this. Whoever thinks himself wise is the most ignorant of all.
