In plain words
All this is the result that comes from desires. To restrain desires, you must develop Detachment. This is possible only through Educare.
Put the key in the lock and turn it to the left, and it locks; turn it to the right, and it opens. It is the same lock, the same key. The difference lies in the turning alone. We can compare our heart to a lock and the mind to the key. Turn the mind toward desires, and bondage results. Turn it toward God, and Mokṣa is attained. Mokṣa is not some special air-conditioned room. It is simply a principle of deep peace. You can call it Supreme Peace. If you want to experience such Supreme Peace, you must go to the Supreme Stage. For that, you must develop unity, purity and divinity. But today there is no unity even between brothers. Do you know what kind of people the Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa of old were? They lived in such unity. In hardship and in happiness alike, Lakṣmaṇa followed Rāma alone. Whatever the circumstances, he never went against Rāma's command. That is exactly why he reached the Supreme Stage. But how are the Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa of today? They swell their cravings, quarrel over property, and go to the Supreme Court. Desires lead to the Supreme Court. When there are no desires, we experience Supreme Peace.
You Must Do the Deeds the Conscience Approves
What do students need today? Not merely education alone; there must be Educare as well. Education gives only Bookish Knowledge. It can also be called Superficial knowledge. Along with it, General Knowledge, Discrimination Knowledge and Practical Knowledge are needed too. Man today, in using his discrimination, keeps nothing in view but his own self-interest. This is called Individual Discrimination. This is not right. You must keep the welfare of society in view. That is what is called Fundamental Discrimination.
