Passage 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

You need not acquire human values anew. They were born along with you, they are in you yourselves. You have hidden them away within yourselves. As one hides precious jewels in a worthless iron box, you have hidden the eternally true human values in the impermanent body. Only when you open the door of your heart with the key called Prema will the precious qualities within it emerge. Students! Officers of education! Lovers of education! Patrons of education! What you must chiefly do is gain the key that opens the door of your heart. That itself is sacred Prema. If you foster the principle of Prema, all powers will emerge.

Only through Satsaṅga Do Good Feelings Arise

Embodiments of Prema! As Jumsai said yesterday, human values are not to be found in the market; nor are they to be had in great big buildings and five-star hotels. Only in a divine holy place like this do sacred feelings come. The atmosphere here is divine, fresh, sacred and full of tranquillity. Only in a place like this do human values grow. Great big buildings and hotels may be comfortable for the body made of the five elements, but they do not bring divine feelings into the mind. Even when your body is in a fine air-conditioned room, your mind keeps getting heated. If sacred feelings are to arise in you, you must enter a sacred place. “Satsaṅgatve nissaṅgatvaṃ nissaṅgatve nirmohatvaṃ nirmohatve niścalatatvaṃ niścalatattve jīvanmuktiḥ.” Only when you enter satsaṅga will you attain peace. The impurity in you is removed and the heart becomes pure. That purity itself is divinity. Wherever divinity is, there alone supreme peace is found.

Know Yourself: This Is the Teaching of Vedānta

You want peace. Where is peace? You yourselves are embodiments of peace. You need not search outside for peace. You must search only within yourselves. This itself is the teaching of Vedānta. “Know yourself,” Vedānta taught. If you know yourself, you become one who knows everything.
