Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

In the same way, you must not think of forms and names as separate. The consciousness in all is one alone! Holding to forms and names and feelings, you build up differences. But what exists is one alone. That same one appears as many. It is that very one we experience as many. The power that fills this whole world is one alone! But because you have gone on experiencing forms and names since time without beginning, you see differences. It is forms and names that delude you in many ways. They set you imagining; they give room to many doubts. If you push forms and names aside, it becomes clear that the power that exists is one alone. Then there is no room at all for Asatya or for anger and vexation. Equality is seen everywhere. Equality itself is the true Vedānta. Until we recognise equality, we cannot attain happiness. That is why the Veda too taught, “Sahanāvavatu, sahanaubhunaktu sahavīryaṃ karavāvahai tejasvi nāvadhītamastu māvidviṣāvahai.” What is its inner meaning?

Let us grow up together in harmony, let us go about together in harmony, together in harmony let us nourish the understanding we have come to know, together in harmony, without strife, let us live in friendship.

Man is the embodiment of the Ātma. What does Ātma mean? All this is power itself. Current has no form. It enters a bulb and gives light. Entering a fan it gives air; going into a stove it helps with the cooking. If you touch it in gratitude, saying, “Aha! Current! What a great help you are to me!”, it gives you a ‘shock’. It has power. In the same way, the Ātma has no form, but it has power. This very thing was called Cosmic energy. There is no need to go off somewhere to search for it. It is in our body too. Whoever's head Bhasmāsura put his hand on would be burnt to ashes, they say. That itself is Cosmic energy.

Spiritual Life Must Begin at a Tender Age

The man of today is wasting so much Energy. Man must make the Knowledge he has into Skill.
