Otherwise, what is gained by being born as human beings? Mukti is not won by tapas, nor by pilgrimages, nor by listening to the śāstras. To cross the ocean of saṃsāra, service is the only way.
Doctors must cultivate a devotion to sacrifice
Doctors, embodiments of Prema! By your good fortune you have studied to a high level and become doctors. The chief quality a doctor must have is sacrifice. A doctor without the quality of sacrifice is of no use. You must recognise that sacrifice alone is the well-being of life. You must take the poor to you with affection and serve them. Only then will you be blessed. Many poor people are losing their lives because they do not have the money needed to have their illness cured. Save the lives of such people with Prema. Help Ever, Hurt Never. Do not torment the poor for money and take their lives. If you earn money by making them weep, it will not be good for you. Be embodiments of Prema, embodiments of compassion, embodiments of sacrifice. Sacrifice alone brings yoga.
The more you grow the spirit of sacrifice in yourselves, the more the world will progress. So use the money you have earned for the poor. Take up the vow of helping others. Now that this hospital has been built here, many people are coming and building houses all around it. Before this, land here was not worth much. Since this hospital came up, the price of land here has risen a great deal. What are those who have gained so much doing for the poor? If you make even one poor man happy, you too will find great joy.
Every Sai institution is lasting
The late former Chief Minister J.H. Patel gave a great deal of help in building this hospital. The present Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, is also giving a great deal of help. Many of the people of Karnataka are working hard for it. So my wish is that this hospital should give the people of Karnataka the service they need and bring them happiness.
