Passage 5

In plain words

To recognise Dharma is the secret of life. What is man's Dharma? Is everything one likes Dharma? No, no. To follow the inner Ātma is true Dharma. But man forgets his inner Ātma, longs for the reflection that appears outside, and sinks into Māyā. Does the reflection seen in a mirror become true? No. Because when you look in a mirror, your right eye appears as your left eye. This is the nature of a reflection (Reflection of the inner being). So you must hold fast to the root principle. Then all outward worries will leave you. But you forget the root principle and live only in outward worries. To be born, to enjoy pleasures, to die: is that all life is? No, no. You must take hold of the root principle; you must reach the root place.

Troubles come only from forgetting the root

Delusions are growing great in man today. That is why, however many years pass, he stays where he is. The name of this new year is the Vṛṣa year. Many people are weaving fancies in many ways about what changes will come about in it. What must happen will happen; what must be done they will do; one must stay where one has to stay. Your mind must always be on the root principle. Leave it aside, and whatever you do is of no use. Troubles go on growing as the years pass only because man forgets the root principle. It should not be said, but it cannot be left unsaid. This year will have to bear far greater hardships than the years gone by. Politically the whole world will be in turmoil. Earthquakes are growing beyond measure; they will grow still more. What is the root cause of this? Man's own karma. The world's good and bad rest on what man does. Today quarrels are breaking out even between brothers; in politics humanness has died out altogether. Not in Bhārata alone; in every country the state of things is the same. But for the good there will never be any danger of any kind.
