Passage 10

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

But by adding to himself the copper and brass of desires, he is losing his purity and his worth; this is why humanness has no value today. Only when man nourishes the human values called Satya, Dharma, Śānti and Prema does his worth increase. Wherever he goes, people will honour him and give him a high place.

Embodiments of Prema! Do not make the mind impure. Through the fruit of the merit of many births you have attained humanness. Humanness is very precious. But only when you nourish human values can you guard your own worth. This is what the Buddha taught. Nourish love of God, fear of sin, and the morality of society. Keep away from sin. Love God. Live in harmony with everyone in society. That is true nirvāṇa. An animal does not know what sin is. So it has no fear of sin. But you know what sin is. So you must have the fear of sin. Restrain your senses. Join the company of the good. Reflect on what you have heard here, and follow it. Only then will you become an example. You will make great progress in life.
