In plain words
She never once saw even her own sons. When all hundred Kauravas died in the war, Kṛṣṇa went to console Gāndhārī and Dhṛtarāṣṭra. But Gāndhārī, in uncontrollable anger: “Kṛṣṇa! Of our hundred sons, You have left us not even one to perform the yearly rites for us! What did You gain by the death of all my sons? Why did Your gracious gaze not fall on my sons?” she asked. Then Kṛṣṇa gave her a fitting answer, one that left her no room to open her mouth again. “Mother! You yourself did not look at your children. How can children not blessed even with their mother's gaze be blessed with God's gaze?” He said. The Veda, saying, “Let your mother be God to you, let your father be God to you, let your teacher be God to you, let your guest be God to you …”, gave the mother the very first place. So first of all you must become worthy of your mother's love.
Learning must be shared, not sold
Because embodiments of sacrifice have been arising in Bhārata from time without beginning, Bhārata is able to enjoy such well-being today. The sacrifice, Satya and Dharma found in Bhārata are found nowhere else. It is the land of sacrifice, the land of yoga, the land of karma, the land of yajña. The youth of today are trying to turn such a sacred land into a land of pleasure. Pleasure we do not want at all; sacrifice is what we need. The Ānanda that comes of sacrifice does not come of pleasure. Pleasure brings disease. Sacrifice brings yoga. The learning you have gained you must share with many in a spirit of sacrifice; you must not sell it. That itself is great service. Wherever your eye falls on anyone suffering, try as far as your strength allows to relieve their suffering. With just such a sacred intention, Dr. Rajeswari spent all the money she had earned on this very hospital. Savitri too, who is her reflection, works hard night and day. “Savitri! If you keep working without eating, what will become of you? How will you be able to serve? So eat your meals on time, and then do whatever work you like,” I told her. I took a promise from her to that effect.
