In plain words
“Vaidyo Nārāyaṇo Hariḥ”
Do you know what kind of people all those who work here are? They tell none of you, but not one of them takes a single naya paisa. For the past 25 years the doctors working here and the visiting doctors who come and go have taken not one naya paisa; they bring the instruments they need themselves, they bring even the medicines for the patients themselves, and they serve joyfully. But people who serve the sick in such a spirit of sacrifice are very rarely found. Neither tapas, nor pilgrimages, nor japa, dhyāna and the like can grant Mukti. To cross the ocean of worldly life, you must serve the good. He alone who serves is a true doctor. “Vaidyo Nārāyaṇo Hariḥ”: the doctor is equal to Nārāyaṇa. What does Nārāyaṇa do? He helps everyone. In the same way, the doctor-Nārāyaṇas too must help everyone. Only because such doctors, embodiments of sacrifice, have joined here has this hospital grown so much and won a great name. The Super Speciality Hospital in Puttaparthi has departments of cardiology, urology, nephrology and ophthalmology. An eye doctor called Hemanth comes there from here once a week and performs operations. Coming from here to Puttaparthi week after week to serve is no ordinary thing. Anaesthetists too come from here and serve. When operations are taking place there in large numbers, the need arises for anaesthetists to come from here. One phone call from there is enough, and they come running. Just finding doctors like these is very hard. I told Hemanth that if he named whatever instruments he needs, I would have them brought at once. To those who work, I give any amount of encouragement and support. That is my joy. I have no use for money. Where does Sai Baba's money come from? Does He create it? So you think. But I have no such bad notions. Because money belongs to the government. I create any object, but money I do not create. When money is needed, at that very time the thought of giving it arises in someone or other. Swami need only say a word: in this land and abroad there are many devotees who will get the work done post-haste.
