In plain words
You must think of God without ceasing. Just because you have a tongue, you must not speak as you please and hurt others. You must speak gently and sweetly. But some people will not listen if you tell them in good words. That is their karma. Because they do not listen, you must not speak harsh words to them. You must speak only kindly. If you are not able to speak kindly, you must stay silent. “Maunaṃ kalahaṃ nāsti.” If you stay silent, no quarrel arises. You must offer to God sacred words and sacred glances.
Whatever work you do, you must do it perfectly
Divinity is in man himself. Only because he cannot recognise the divinity within him does man behave foolishly. Man cannot escape recognising divinity, if not today, then tomorrow. Only when he recognises divinity does man become perfect. Long ago a man named Anthony used to make violins. But it took him a year to make one violin. One day his friends: “Anthony! If you take a year to make one violin, how can you support your family? You are wasting time,” they scolded him. Then Anthony said: “Brothers! What I do is God's work. God is perfect. So the violin I make must also be perfect. No false notes must come from it. I take more time only because I mean to make such a violin,” he said. That is why Anthony's violins became very famous. God is perfect. So whatever you do, you must do it perfectly, to God's satisfaction. Only then does the work become fruitful.
Whatever work God does, He does it perfectly. I create rings and give them to devotees. Whoever I give one to, it fits their finger exactly. Even a ‘goldsmith’ who takes the measurements and then makes it may make a mistake, but whatever the ‘lifesmith’ called God makes is ‘perfect’. Just so, whatever you do, you too must do it perfectly.
