In plain words
There is nothing more valuable than man. You must guard that value. Only when you do selfless deeds will you have guarded your value.
Man today looks to his self-interest even in the smallest matters. Fish is better than selfish. The fish, moving about in the water, eats up all the dirt in it and makes the water clean. But the selfish man, living in society, pollutes society. Self-interest may be there. But self-interest that oversteps its bounds is not good. If you read the word ‘maniṣi’ backwards, it becomes ‘ṣinima’. Man today is turning into a cinema man. In the word ‘mānava’, ‘mā’ means ignorance, ‘na’ means without, ‘va’ means conducting oneself. So he alone who conducts himself without ignorance is a mānava. You must become such human beings. Only then will the learning you have studied bear fruit.
Students! Earn a good name and hold up an ideal to the world. Today the world is in a state of great confusion. Wherever you look, nothing but unrest; wherever you look, nothing but sorrow; wherever you look, nothing but sin; wherever you look, nothing but anger. So you must pledge yourselves to bring peace and security to the world. Where is Śānti? It is within you yourselves. You yourselves are embodiments of Śānti. Only when you give up selfishness and choose the good of others can you experience Śānti.
A business attitude does not befit the field of spirituality
In the past, educational institutions and medical institutions served the people selflessly. But today the fields of education and medicine are tainted with selfishness. They spend ten crores to build a hospital and expect an income of a hundred crores. To put a small child into K.G., you have to pay a donation of 20 or 25 thousand. Poor souls, where can the poor bring so much money from? Not only that. Today a business attitude has entered even the field of spirituality. Spirituality must be within reach of all, free of charge. You must share Prema.
