Passage 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

The body is very sacred. All the forms of God appear only in human form. But through the feeling “I am weak”, man turns into a sheep. First of all you must recognise the worth of humanness. The word mānava means one who conducts himself without Ajñāna.

What is within and without is Caitanya alone

This Caitanya Jyoti museum is meant for man to recognise the worth and the wonder of the Caitanya in himself; it was not set up for entertainment. In man, Caitanya moves from the feet to the head; what is within and what is without is Caitanya alone. “Antarbahiśca tatsarvaṃ vyāpyanārāyaṇa sthitaḥ”: that itself is the light of Caitanya, the light of Prajñāna, the endless light, the unbroken light, the light of Advaita. It shines on in the ground of every man's heart. Only what is full of compassion is a heart; but man has become pitiless and lives in a demonic way. He must enquire within himself, “What kind of feelings are in my heart?”; he must strive for self-satisfaction. Only when man gains self-satisfaction does he make self-sacrifice. Only when he makes self-sacrifice can he attain the realisation of the Ātma.

For the devotees' contentment I will do anything

Embodiments of Prema! I had not meant to speak at all today. But this architect came from China to celebrate the anniversary of the Caitanya Jyoti, and many others came too. To satisfy all of them, I agreed to this. For the devotees' contentment I will do anything. All the work I do is only to give the devotees contentment. I have no desires of any kind, no resolves of any kind. It is in keeping with the devotees' resolves that My true resolve grows. Yours are merely resolves. But Mine is a true resolve. It does not change. For your joy I will do anything. Indulal Shah laboured very hard for this Caitanya Jyoti. In fact he is the root cause of it. Even when I was not here, he would come every month, see to the work on it and go. With śraddhā like that, any great undertaking can be achieved. “Śraddhāvān labhate jñānaṃ”: his śraddhā and this architect's labour; it is through these two alone that the Caitanya Jyoti has taken so beautiful a shape and gives joy to all.
