In plain words
In the atom and in the vast there is one and the same principle. Go to the sea, take a little of its water in your hand and put it in your mouth. It will taste of salt. Go to the sea and bring back a pot filled with its water. That too will taste of salt. There is a difference in quantity, but the quality is one. God always looks at the quality; He does not look at the quantity. Why pots and pots of donkey's milk? Drinking even a ladleful of milk from a sacred cow is a joy. Do not grasp after quantity; keep quality in view. Do not hope for too much and then fall into disappointment. Craving is the cause of sorrow.
Embodiments of Prema! Today many people are searching for God along many paths. Where is God? Wherever you look, He is there. Why search for such a God? “Do not doubt that He is here and not there; the Lord of the discus is everywhere; wherever you search, there He is,” said Prahlāda, a little child. His teachers, Caṇḍa and Amarka, went on punishing him very harshly. But Prahlāda did not waver. He kept his aim fixed on God. One day his father sent for him. “My son! They tell me you have learnt very great lessons. Come, tell me what you have learnt, and let us see,” he said. Prahlāda said:
“My teachers had me taught; I studied the chief śāstras of Dharma and of wealth; I have studied many things besides; the whole secret of all learning I have learnt, father!”
When he asked, “Tell me what that secret is, my son!” Prahlāda said, “Oṃ Namo Nārāyaṇāya.” The father's head spun. He gave Prahlāda a couple of blows and sent him away. Prahlāda loved Hari. Hiraṇyakaśipu hated Hari. What a difference between father and son! By Prema alone can humanness be transformed into divinity. Only when Ahaṅkāra is slain does the principle of Prema grow.
