In plain words
Do you act as I have told you? The one who acts on it does well; the one who does not falls into suffering. Walk in My footsteps. No harm of any kind will come to you. Today, to get a seat in a primary school, one has to pay a donation of twenty or thirty thousand. In such conditions, from the first class right up to the Ph.D. I am giving education free. To those who came to her, Easwaramma: “See how much work our Swami is doing! How much help He is giving the poor! But some forget the good they have received and try to do harm. That is not good for them,” she would say, very gently.
Above all, what a human being must have is gratitude. The ungrateful man is no better than a cruel beast. To those who have done us good we must do good in return, as far as we are able. If instead we do harm to the very one who has done us good, we will lose our eyes. I am telling you the truth. If not today, then some day, this cannot be escaped. With this in mind, when we do the sūrya namaskāras we say, “Kṛtaghnaghnāya namaḥ.” What does it mean? Only by the radiance of the sun that is in our eyes are we able to see. But if we behave without gratitude towards those who have done us good, that radiance leaves our eyes. “Aah... these are all made-up stories,” some say. This is no story; it is the anguish that the ungrateful go through. If not today, then tomorrow, this will surely come to pass. So we must have gratitude. As far as we are able, we must do good to all. We must give our help to elders and to the aged.
About twenty years ago, when the new mandiram here was being built, the Rājamātā of Jamnagar: “Swami! Stay in our house until the building of this mandiram is finished,” she asked. I granted her prayer and stayed in her house. The Rājamātā had a driver. When she was not there, I Myself kept providing for him.
