In plain words
This is the Dharma of man. In man today the sacred feelings are lacking. Outwardly he acts the part of a devotee. Why this play-acting? Since the cinema came, this play-acting has grown even more. Videos and TVs are spoiling children still more. People set great value on videos and TVs. But I do not give them any value at all. Do they uplift man in any way? No. They are of no use at all for man to live as a man.
Students! For so many years you have been studying in Swami's college. But if there is not the least change in your behaviour, what is the use? Love everyone. Hate no one. Love even those who hate you. This is the chief principle of Sai. I love even those who revile Me. If they revile aloud, the abuse dissolves into the air. If they revile among themselves, it belongs to them alone. It never reaches Me at all. With this same feeling, you too must never give way to blame or praise, to scorn or honour. Under no circumstances must you give up the principle of Prema.
The good meet an easy death
Gṛham Ammāyi (Easwaramma) breathed her last in Brindavan, in this very mandiram. At that time (May 1972) the summer classes were going on. Every day she too would come and sit in the class. With a laugh, “What are you listening to? You have had no schooling, have you! Do you understand anything?” I asked, and: “Swami! A washerman is better than an educated man. I do not need these studies. With what feeling are these children listening to the words Swami speaks? How are they behaving? That is what I come to watch,” she answered. Here in Kalyanapuram lived the Gogineni family. They had built a big bungalow. One day Easwaramma went there on foot and came back. In the morning she drank her coffee and sat down. “Swami! The classes have not begun yet today!” she said.
